Have two FT, 2 RT (one traded away)
Evan Longoria 2017: 13M, 2018: 13.5M, 2019: 14.5M, 2020: 15M, 2021: $18.5M, 2022: $19.5M, 2023: $13M c/o (RT) Addison Reed 3rd yr Arb eligible est $6M (FT) Yasiel Puig 2017: $8,214,000, 2018: $9,214,000 (FT)
Bryan Shaw 2017: 3rd year arb eligible est $3.5M drop Carlos Ruiz 2017: $4.5M drop Mark Lowe drop
These are what I probably do. Please weigh in so we can process these decisions before the start of FA on Monday.
Does this look better? Swapping RT and FT tags between Longo and Puig?

Ok with everything but Franchising Longoria. He's on a downward trend. way to much to spend on him IMO

Please don't franchise Longoria. Agree with Anton's plan. Make Puig's FT a prospect tag.

Puig can't be prospect tagged, I'm pretty sure he was signed to an MLB deal

Doug Fister - SP - SEA (via TRP) - NO BIDS - Give $400K for how many years ?
NYY have high bid - David Phelps - 3 yrs, $15M, AAS $5M - SEA (via TRP) - I say decline to match and receive 3rd round pick (NYY) and a Sandwich pick after 3rd and 4th
LAA have high bid - Evan Longoria - 6 yrs, $102M, AAS $17M - OAK (via TRP) - I say decline to match and receive 1st round pick (LAA) and a Sandwich pick between the 1st and 2nd

Fister: At $0.4M, you can go two years and not lose much. However, he doesn't have much more in the tank. No more than two years.
Phelps: He's at his peak. He's not going to get better, and if anything, I see him regressing a bit. Agree: Decline to match!
Longoria: No brainer: Decline to match!

Guys, I feel the Rays should get the Angels 1st pick & supplemental for signing Grienke. A's are an open team and should get the 2 supplemental picks after the 1st round from Angels for signing Longoria.

I might agree with you but he hasn't been on since Dec 7th. A couple of others have not declared their intention to match or not. I assume the teams with the winning bids get the players?

I'm assuming the winners get the players since deadline has past

Maybe next year we do a 72 hour matching period. It would be tough not to give players to the teams that follow the rules. I'm all for giving some slack here and there but they should be here. I'd give the angles pick to the A's but whatever you guy think is best is fine for me at the end of the day

We also may need to keep an eye out for new owners for both the rays and the royals if they don't become more active again

Yes we should increase the time to 72 hours. For now though we need to stick to the rules. Stanton & Grienke most likely wouldn't have been matched

"If the franchise that restricted the player fails to respond or chooses not to match the best contract offer made to their player, then the auctioned player will be required to sign with the franchise that made the winning bid. That franchise must use the exact winning contract offered and cannot restructure it after the fact."

I can understand how the 48-hours we decided on is a bit short, but there's only so much babysitting we can do.

So AL RFA is complete right? teams not responding lose player. Who are we giving LAA 1st pick to OAK or TB ?

So AL RFA is complete right? teams not responding lose player. Who are we giving LAA 1st pick to OAK or TB ? Teams not responding lose player. As for the first-rounder: "If a franchise gives up multiple same round picks as compensation (for example, the Reds win two separate RFA players at AAS $10M, suggesting the loss of two 2nd-round picks), the first franchise that declined to match will receive the winning franchise's pick, and subsequent franchises will receive two compensatory sandwich picks in the same round." A's get first dibs, then Rays get seconds for not responding.
