The sox asked what was going n with cubs and i got this response, any thoughts?:
From Sox owner:Really??? I want the team. I've been a Cubs fan since 82'. Go to Wrigley once a year and have a Cubs cave.
If he's done I'd love to take the team over and would also be willing to pay for the rest of teams as compensation. Might be easy to find an owner for my team since it's pretty well off

This sets a bad precedent...I would oppose this. If you no longer like your team, switch to a new one.

He took over a really bad team and made it better. He has only been around for a short time. I have no problem with him taking it over.

I would at least consider the idea, particularly if Chris can get an effective manager (who will stick around) to take over the Red Sox.

If Red Sox is going to switch team names and divisions...then I want to do the same. It starts a bad precedent.

This isn't like he has been around a long time and decided he does not like the team he created. I don't want to see a good team like the Cubs go unattended and in a year or two we have a totally putrid team. It may be easier to fill the Cubs at this point because they are a good team but I haven't seen a whole lot of interest in people wanting to join. Before Chris the last four or five came to us because I posted something on Rotoworld. I did that again a couple of weeks ago and we have had no new owners. If we can get someone else to add owners to the league to help get it filled I have no problem with it. Now if the Padres as an example wanted to do this I agree there is a bad precedent. He has been around a while and is fully responsible for the team. As such, I would not want an owner like that to walk away from the crap he created.
I am up for anything that will keep this league full and active. But I will side with whatever we decide.

If he had been here for a long time I would definitely agree. But he's been here for a month or so, and done a relatively good job I think at making the Sox competitive. I think if we allow this we post that since he has been here a short time we are allowing it, and this is a one time thing, and that he found a replacement. I don't think we make this something we allow a lot. But i understand his thought process. And if gets him to stay a long time, and adds an owner I think its a good move actually.

Maybe we should consider the Red Sox his internship. We now see that he is active and understands what he is doing. How many times have we let a new owner take over a good team (Red Sox circa 2013, 2014) and totally destroy it. Let them cut their teeth on a bad team and if they prove to be a good owner provide them the option of keeping the team or they can take over a better team that might be available. At least the crap team got some attention and is better than it was. If it is not then we shouldn't allow someone to do this.

Red Sox guy says he has an owner for the sox, should we let him jump ship?

If the new owner has read the rules and understands the league format, we can make the transition. Admittedly, I haven't had time to clean up and verify the Cubs roster.
This week is pretty rough for me too. But I'll see if I can squeeze in an hour this evening to confirm the Cubs roster on ProBoards is up-to-date. We should do that before making the transition, whether it's me or someone else doing it.

I still think this is a horrible idea. Why can't we just give the new owner the Cubs?

I am for it if he really has an owner to take his place for all the reasons I posted before. However, I do agree that we should post an explanation indicating that this is not normal procedure but due to his short time in the league, his improvement of the Red Sox and that he has an owner to take over the Red Sox...

Well let's see this guy sign up to the message board before we let the Red Sox owner change teams. I still think this is dumb and won't change my mind over it...but if majority disagrees with me, I'll let it be.

I'm a yes. (If this ends up deadlocked my vote is changed to a no. My way of saying a tie means we leave everything the way it has been)

Yikes. I've been busy as hell and was out-of-town. Suddenly we turned into a bunch of noes. I personally don't see what the problem is, so I'm a yes. Whatever we decide... 1. I've reconciled the Cubs roster with the Master List: fullcountbaseball.proboards.com/thread/8486/2016-chicago-cubs2. I received a private message from someone wanting to take the Cubs. I responded in a separate private message involving Chris, Jason, and Jared, not having seen the influx of noes here. Regardless, you have one user who is interested in the Cubs team.

My vote is still no. What's to stop anyone else from wanting to switch when we lose another owner. Let the person that's interested in taking the Cubs have it.

That's what I originally said. If we have someone willing to take the Cubs, then give the owner the Cubs. Nice and easy.

Chris of the Red Sox has quit. I assume it has something to do with not being able to take the Cubs.
