Should we have a thread for open teams? Perhaps on the front page of our board so that it is easy for potential owners to check it out? I know the Phils and Nats are open. I think the Marlins are too since they have not been on for 6 weeks and I sent him a direct email with no response a week ago. Cubs have not been on for 4 weeks and never picked up Brady Aiken. Perhaps we should consider putting a freeze on FA acquisitions the first week of the season and have bids for only the open teams to try to make them a little more appealing to potential new owners? We will probably see another 30 or 40 players available over the next week that could help these teams at a reasonable price.

"Should we have a thread for open teams?"
I thought about that a couple of weeks ago. It's worth creating an Open Teams section, just to keep things a bit more organized.
"I think the Marlins are too since they have not been on for 6 weeks and I sent him a direct email with no response a week ago. Cubs have not been on for 4 weeks and never picked up Brady Aiken."
It probably wouldn't hurt for us to mutually come up with some general criteria for what we consider an abandoned team. I want to give managers some freedom, as life can often intervene unexpectedly. But we can't leave a team to sink too long. Six to eight weeks?
"Perhaps we should consider putting a freeze on FA acquisitions the first week of the season and have bids for only the open teams to try to make them a little more appealing to potential new owners?"
*shrugs* Eh. I'll hold my thoughts on this for the moment.

You can't freeze Free Agency. It's unfair to every team that has legit owners.

And each time we go through FA these teams get worse and worse. We have improved our teams at their expense to some extent. It's not like they are getting their choice of Clayton Kershaw or Mike Trout. They are getting the bottom of our rosters in many cases. Let's at least give them some opportunity to make their rosters a little more appealing. I am not sure how to do that without giving them their own time period. Just my opinion. At minimum in my opinion we need to post the teams available for guests to take a look at and perhaps take an interest.

But in some cases rosters are better off not having an owner than having one. When you have a GM like the Red Sox from last offseason who turned a talented roster into one barren with talent and then left when the season started. Or the Mariners owner we added this winter who has made many trades that in the past we would have vetoed but we have allowed him to ruin that roster.
It's hard enough to find owners, it's even harder to babysit the one's we already have. In a 30 team league, not every team is going to be good. We'll just have to deal with what we have.

I've considered this. Would it be too wrong to say the guys who are posted and not won this week will be distributed at 1 year 1 mil contracts or something to the empty teams? I think making the more attractive will help this process. This is the also the perfect time to grab extra owners. Who do we have open now? I can make a post or two.

Nats, Phils for certain. Cubs have not been on for a month and never picked up Brady Aiken. Should we do it for him? Marlins have not logged in for 6 o 7 weeks.

Yes, we probably should pick up Aiken for him. He's been with us for awhile. Suprised he would disappear now. Marlins I'm comfortable replacing.

Basically the NL East needs owners. Braves/Mets only active teams. Which is not unlike the real life NL so it works out. lol

I've added a section for open teams and will now add the Marlins, Phillies, and Nationals to that section. I'll leave the Cubs alone for now, and I'll send a private message to see if I can get a response.
Edit: Teams added and updated via the spreadsheet. Had to also tweak a couple of things for those teams on the SS. Should be looking OK now.

P.S. The Phillies are at 59 players. We need to make some decisions for them before April 3.
