2017 Off Season Schedule

This is my Idea for the off season schedule next year. Please look at and suggest changes or additions if needed.


October 1st: Trading re-opens
Expiring contracts must have tags attached to be traded

January 1st: All tags must be submitted

January 09-13: NL Restricted Free Agency
January 14-15: NL RFA Matching Period

January 16-20: AL Restricted Free Agency
January 21-22: AL Matching Period

January 23: FYPD begins
3 hour time slots 1st round
2 hour time slots rounds 2 & 3
1 hour time slots rounds 4 & 5

February 20: Unrestricted Free Agency begins
SP/RP: February 20 - February 24
OF/C/DH: February 27 - March 3
MI/CI: March 6 - March 10

Minor League Free Agency
Pitchers- March 13 - March 17
Position Players - March 20 - March 24

Normal free agency March 27

A few reminders:

1) Please continue to log in once a week or so just so we know you are still around through the new year. We in no way expect guys to log in daily during the doldrums of November, but once a week seems easy enough for everybody.

2) Please update your rosters to show 2016 salaries and players. All players won or drafted must be picked up on Fantrax and updated on Proboards roster within 72 hours. Failure to do so will result in players becoming free agents.

3) Remember that no trades involving upcoming free agents can be made without a tag attached.

I feel we need to change the rule on RFA. Matching bids should need to be the same length of contracts offered. We shouldn't be allowed shorten contracts IMO

I would extend the RFA bidding to 5 days, and shorten the matching to 2.

I still think for RFA, if someone wants to pay it out over one less/or more year I don't think it should be an issue. I just feel like they still need to pay the total contract amount made in the initial bid.

The schedule as is starts on Weds and ends on Sat. Ex: NL RFA should be Jan 9 thru Jan 13 (Mon-Fri) Move up by two days all starting dates and move back by one the ending date. NL RFA matching Jan 14 thru Jan 15

I think you used 2016 calendar.

Regarding the schedule, don't forget to throw in DH players (not that we have a lot) with one of those unrestricted free agency groups.

As for RFA, I have a different opinion than both Larry and Seth, but I've already expressed it elsewhere.

I would like to switch NL and AL RFA this year. We usually rotate them so the same league doesn't get hit with the first week every time.

I swapped NL and AL, Jared. I also did some swapping in UFA and MLFA for a bit of variety.
