Are we doing one this year? We have done it 2008, 2010, 2012 & 2014. I know contract values aren't going down, Miggy, Grienke, Price...

Seems reasonable given the precedent. I'm OK with bumping it again for 2016.

I don't have an issue with this.

Yea this is the year to do this, I think we should do it.
Side note, I've always been intrigued with idea of every couple of years allowing teams to make a one tier move. If we started this league today, teams would definitely be in different tiers than they are for our league. The Pirates and Dodgers would have moved up. The Phillies would have moved down probably, etc. How do you guys feel about giving teams a couple weeks to post and announce if they would like to move up or down 1 tier this offseason?

We have raised it every even year since I've been here (2008). With rising costs of player salaries we should seriously think about making franchise and restricted tags Flex tags. It gives teams the option of what tag they want on players. We currently allow one franchise tag to become a prospect tag. That can remain the same. Just an Idea.

I know the tiers, or what teams are in what tiers in real life have changed. I would have no problem with allowing that. Teams would have to keep in mind that by moving up they would not have as many tags to work with. So they would be unable to protect as many players. I don't know if I like giving this option every year if we include the opportunity to move down a tier. I like the way it is set up now but would not have a problem with the proposal.

Yea I wouldn't want to do it every year. Just like every couple of years we can give people that option of moving tiers.
Larry, I've thought about the flex tags, and my biggest concern is that too many people use all of there tags for franchise, and we lose the restricted FA process to a large extent. I'm a fan of RFA because it helps promote player movement and pick movement. I think it adds value to the league. That's just my opinion on it. I could be wrong and it might not take away RFA. But that's my concern.

Example; Brewers have 2 franchise & 2 restricted tags. Brewers would be limited to only franchising 2 players but would have the option to restrict 4 players. One franchise tag still could be used as a prospect tag.

Cool to see this getting revisited. I brought this up this past February. From that post: That pretty much matches up with what I'm seeing here. If we're going to pose the question, let's do it ASAP, preferably before the new year.

I'll go ahead and make a brief announcement that we'll raise the cap another $2 million for next year. (I'll update the rules accordingly.) If we're serious about the tier proposal, let's get feedback on it too.

I feel giving teams the option to use their franchise tags as restricted tags opens up the availability of more players. It also helps with the rising contracts that most teams can't afford to use franchise tag on.

I'm good with both of these. I like the idea of allowing 1 franchise tag to be a restricted tag. I'm also good with giving people the option, this winter only, to make a 1 tier move up or down. We would need to make a post for it and people would need to post their intent to change tiers by a certain date.
