Upton and Price are all invalid bids. Rule 3: Salary Cap states you must be within 80% to 120% of AAS on AAS bids of $20m or more.

These are the next highest bids. I'm shoveling and didn't do the math yet but these are the next higest bidders
1) David Price 5 YRS= 75M AAS 15M- 2015-2020 braves
5.Justin Upton- yanks 6 years $150M AAS $25M 15:$32M 16:32M 17:$27M 18:$25M 19:$18M 20:$16M
Cincinnati Reds To Justin Upton, the Reds offer a contract of six (6) years at AAS $21.0M, the total contract amount at $126.0M. The salary breakdown is (40 percent of 19 is 8.4):
15: $14.0M 16: $19.0M 17: $26.0M 18: $26.0M 19: $22.0M 20: $19.0M

Oh. And I know this rule is real. Kershaw last year. See my original matched offer and what I have today. Much different due to this rule.

Can you link me to this rule? I'm struggling to find this.
When I was constructing my Justin Upton offer i was using the usual "The highest single year salary of a contract may not exceed AAS times 2.5.
In addition to Rule 7 minimum salary limits, the lowest single year salary of a contract may not be less than 40% of AAS."
I could be wrong, so I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just not sure where it came from.

Okay I see it now. Man...that was buried. This once again proves that we need to clean up our rules because I didn't even know that one existed in the 6 years that I've been here lol

I didn't know until last year with Kershaw. If I wasn't bidding on scherzer I would have missed it. I even have on my spreadsheet to make sure I don't miss it. Crazy!

I feel like we need to post all the front loading/backloading rules whenever we post the big RFA thread along with the minimum years per amount AAS you offer as well as the compensation...that's a pretty big deal when offering a contract. That's 2 years in a row where I bid on one of your free agents Mike and both times a different buried rule is gonna beat me up. I may just stay away from your RFA guys lol.

I hope we can get some more TRP people to comment on it...it's already been a full week since these bids were passed through, and both Upton/Price were given to their new teams. I'm fine with amending it, I understand the rule and I'll avoid it in the future but I'm not sure how well Yankees is going to take this. Plus both of you guys are gonna need to match or not match the next highest legal bid way after the deadline past. Can one of the three commissioners weigh in on this?

If I know the next legal bid, I'll tell you right now if I'm matching.

If bids are illegal than the next legal bid wins and all trades involving illegal contracts will be voided.

Can someone check on the next legal bids? I'm not in a position to do so. If anyone wants to volunteer to help update the rules section let us know. I tried to illicit help a couple years ago to do so with no luck and now I just don't have the free time to spend like I did then.

Should we allow all trades made by Yankees after he thought he received David Price in RFA to be voidable by him due to the circumstances?

Well what we could do is contact both parties of each trade made since the RFA decision and ask if they still want the trade to go through. If either says no, we do the usual veto you have 48 hours to renegotiate.

If we just cleared all trades and the two parties want to trade they'll just repost it. The rest just complicates it

Any trade involving price and trade by the yanks there after by the yanks to get under the cap IE Paxton should be voided. Any trade other than that should stand bbecause price had no bearing on the outcome

I'm also allowing the yanks to pick up the specs he dropped, it's only fair
