I am not sure how I feel about this. Part of me says much to much just Giolito. Part of me also says back end of 1st round is crapshoot and would be lucky to get one guy even close to as good as Giolito is with those picks. I'm not sure I'll veto. I don't like vetoing for paying to much for the clear best player in the deal.

I think it's an overpay but probably not vetoable. Close but probably sets a bad precedent

Jared makes a great point when speaking about the late first rd picks bring a crap shoot, and that's i why I moved mine for guys like ruiz and devers; and that's another reason I have no issues with this trade. Honestly I would never have given giolito for that offer.

I also moved a late 1st for Odor. I'll always gamble on a known product with upside over the unknown.

I always tell people to check my 2010 first round when it comes to how much of a crap shoot it can be. 4 picks in the top 19 and all were busts.

My top two picks from the last 3 draft have ball be top 100 guys or in some cases good major leaguers. Shipley, Betts, Corey seager, CJ Edwards, sonny gray and Alex Meyer. Prospects are as much a crap shoot as draft picks bc most fail.

It had two awful Ted Lilly and Ryan Dempster contracts that took up most of the cap and Tulowitzki. That was about it. |
