CI Lonnie Chisenhall (PP-15), SP Derek Holland (PP-13), OF spec Robbie Grossman, and P spec Ismael Guillon
for
Starlin Castro PP 2014
This looks terrible to me... Starlin Castro? A top young SS and PP for 2 years for this? We have set a high standard for vetoing trades and this is a lot worse then other stuff we have vetoed.

yeah I agree. Staying in line with the standard we have set, I veto it. Sorry Jared this is a great deal for you too.

I agree he isn't a stud... yet. But 290, 12 homers and 25 sbs, at PP 14 is probably the most VALUABLE MI in this format.

I agree with Nick more or less. Could have gotten a bit more for Starlin, but this isn't veto-worthy to me. I personally think Holland is making progress and had some bad luck last year (strand percentage, for example). Chisenhall has potential with 500 AB, though he has some contact issues. Can't say much for the specs, but I've seen worse trades. Can't really veto it in my book, though it is slightly lopsided.
[soapbox] BTW, I'm getting really, really tired of seeing trades posted without listing which team is getting which players. This is yet another example. I want to see "Rangers receive" and "White Sox receive" without having to research and find out. [/soapbox]

I don't like getting into my own deals, but I agree that Starlin is bigger name than production. Put his numbers next to my other MI, Espinosa, and they aren't that different. Better average, less power, doubles, runs, a few more steals. Starlins numbers are worse across the board than a guy like Ian Desmond (290, 25 hr, 21 steals) and comparable to kipnis (lower avg, more steals, same power), and Elvis ( less power, more speed). That's a lot of young MI with similar contracts that I don't think my same offer gets voided for. SS defense, range, charisma, and bringing millions of cubs fans hope doesnt equal fantasy value. I think 2 starting MLB pieces and a couple of solid specs is a pretty good offer for this.

I totally agree with you Jared. Those are only the PP MIs as well. Guys like Cano,Tulo,Pedroad i can go on are more valuable then Castro even with big contracts.

After thinking about it. It's a veto for me Castro is going to be just 23 for this season. He put up some impressive numbers for someone his age an I don't think he's reach his potential yet. Holland to this point in his career he's been an end if the rotation SP. while he has upside to be a 2-3 SP. Chisenhall still hasn't done much to this point in his career and there really wasn't anyone in front of him. The prospects do really add that much to the deal as both aren't all that highly rated.

I think the value of Chisenhall is under rated here, and I kinda get it, but this is the deal we let go thru a month ago. The Mets Trade
CI- Lonnie Chisenhall 2013: $.4M (PP-2015) SP- Paul Maholm 2013: $6.5M RP- Brayan Villarreal 2013: $.4M (PP-2016) OF - Nate Schierholtz 2013: $400k
To the Braves for
MI- Erik Aybar 2013: $5M SP- Danny Duffy 2013: $.4M (PP-2015) (20) Dan Vogelbach 1B (Cubs) Braves 2013/2014 First Round Pick Braves 2013/2014 Second Round Pick Braves 2013/2014 Third Round Pick Braves 2013/2014 Fourth Round Pick
Chisenhall is clearly the best player the Braves are getting. Maholm is an OK pitcher. Villareal and Schierholtz are bench guys. And we let him get Vogelbach, a top 75 spec or so, a 1st, and 3 other picks, Duffy, and Aybar who is a very solid MI. Now Chisenhall can't lead a deal for a guy who is a top 15 MI guy?

I will admit Jared convinced me this trade isn't as bad as I thought it was... I am on the edge of a veto. I still don't like it

I didn't like that trade Jared but I let it slip through because of how bad the Mets roster was when Matthew took it over

So is this already a veto? I really had no idea what to vote for this one...was really close for me.

This was probably the toughest decision I've had to make in a long time in here but I'm going to pass it. Chisenhall was once a top prospect and before last season Derek Holland was pitching a GEM in the world series vs St. Louis and I think could have a bounce back year. I do think Jared is winning this trade but I just don't think it's bad enough for a veto.
