The Bravos send SP: Gerrit Cole - $400k PP SP: Tommy Hanson - $400k PP 2013 CI: Justin Smoak - $400k PP 2014
To the Pirates for C: Devin Mesoraco - $400k PP 2016 SP: Michael Pineda - $400k PP 2016 OF: Elier Hernandez - $400k PP
--- Personally I don't think this changes my decision to veto but I wanted to hear from you guys what you think about this.

It's a veto for me. This doesn't change much for me. I feel like Pineda and Hason are about equal (both young pitchers with good upside that have major injury concerns). Mesoraco and Smoak are about equal (Both are young talented players who haven't shown they can hit major league pitching) where the trade gets crazy is Cole and Hernandez where cole is a 100x better of a prospect.

i dont like it but I gotta say pass. Pineda and Hanson are not equals because of contracts. Mesoraco has significant more value than Castro in my opinion, and I would say more valuable than smoak because of contract and position. Did he give up too much? Absolutely. But it is improved from before.
The way I see it in terms of value:
Pineda > Hanson 4 yrs to 1 yr Mesoraco > Smoak 4 yrs to 2 yrs plus position scarcity Cole >>>> Hernandez Obviously
I dont think this is vetoable.

I still don't think it's enough, staying with my veto.

I looked closer at Hanson and he has regressed badly and is moving to AL. I think he's quite over rated. And Pineda was considered future ace before injury. Can't assume he bounces back completely but he was nearly same level as Cole a year ago. I think he will be a very very good pitcher still. Also can't assume Cole becomes an ace. He'll be good but chances are he is not going to be an ace based on history. I say pass. Not great deal, but passable. Mesoraco much better than Castro.
