The Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Athletics have reached a trade agreement.
Boston sends:
SP prospect Julio Teheran - Atl RP prospect Mike Montgomery - KC SP Steven Strasburg - Was - PP 2014
Oakland sends:
SP prospect Chris Archer - TB - $0.455M SP prospect Danny Hultzen - Sea SP A. J. Griffin - Oak - 13: $1.4M, 14: $0.8M, 15: $0.8M OF prospect Will Myers - KC 2012 2nd round pick
Trade pending Oakland GM's approval and league approval.
I am looking to rebuild my minor league system. Like Strasburg alot, but feel Archer and Griffin and feel like Hultzen and Myers will be impact players in the future. Good luck to both sides!
I think we should discuss this trade

I personally don't hate this deal. Wil Myers has the potential to be a superstar in this league. And Teheran and Montgomery used to be big name prospects who have REALLY fallen off from where they once stood. I think this deal is not even close to vetoable

This trade is terrible Terhan is still a top 50 prospect still rated higher the proababaly both Hultzen (with him having the upside of a mid rotation starter and the fact that he had horrible controll at AAA this year) and archer. Monty has fallen off though. Myers is a great spec but we're talking about one of the best young pitcher in baseball. This trade is bad if you remove the prospects from the sox side it's passable. As it stand now this trade is horrible.

Its a terrible trade, approve it if you want because it just makes the red sox worse and puts strasburg on a non contender. Archer is a lesser prospect then Teheran still, hultzen is at best a #3 fantasy pitcher, So were saying trading a top prospect for a top 3 fantasy starting pitcher who is also sooo young and cheap is a good trade.

I'm just saying he's getting Wil Myers in the deal...it's not like one of those old deals Dale would do where he'd get 5 old scrubs for his best player. I just don't think we should be vetoing a deal like this, especially since he's getting arguably the best prospect in baseball back.
Do you disagree with the trade? Thats fine...but that doesn't mean we have to stop it from going through. I'll let everyone else chip in on it...but thats my opinion.

I didn't say Wil Myers was better than Strasburg...but this is not a vetoable deal Anton. I've seen you rob people in this league for MUCH worse than this but like I said...I'll let Jared, Jordan, Jason and everyone else chip in and I advise you do the same.

I guess we will see if it veto able. So far 3 people have spoke on the topic two of them think its bad. The one person who thinks its good has said he doesn't know much about prospects and needs to do research so sorry for not taking your word for it lol

Anton you are such an immature baby. Do you get pride in calling people names or something? This is a TRP, I'm allowed to give my opinions as you are allowed to give yours. Stop trying to act like you're the all knowing being.
And for your information, I know all of the players involved in this deal pretty darn well...I still don't see how this trade is vetoable.

When did I call u a name Seth? I'm just pointing out what u have said yourself. So maybe you can put your big boy pants on and lean to take some criticism. Let me know what name I called u bc your the only one calling some one names "immature baby" lol. I also like to point out you can say anything to anyone but once anyone says anything to u, you cry

Pass on this trade but very close. To me Teheran, Montogomery, Archer, and Hultzen are close with a slight edge IMO to the Archer/Hultzen side.
Now, I would not trade Strasburg to begin with but getting a prospect like Myers in return is a nice start. Do I think you could get more in-return for Stras than Myers, Griffin, and a 2nd? Off-course you can, but at the end of the day, I don't think this trade veto worthy. I say that because I hate vetoing a deal unless IMO it is completely weighted in one direction or completely destroys the competitiveness of a team. IMO this deal does not fall in either direction.
Count: 3-2 Veto

Now the one thing I will admit that worries me about the Red Sox is he seems like one of those owners who trades just to trade. Plus if you check his roster he wrote Brett Myers, KC instead of Wil Myers.

I will need to think on this. Strasburg is one of top pitchers in baseball. He also is a bigger injury risk than most IMO. Myers is possibly best MILB bat in baseball. He is still unproven tho. As are other pieces. And I think Teheran/Hultzen is a wash. Personal preference. let me think.

I've got to veto. New guy, very questionable deal. Just didn't get enough to deal Strasburg and Teheran.

Christian Betancourt added and they reposted the trade...I don't want to piss off the A's owner who we've had to veto MANY times before, but I'm assuming this doesn't change the opinions of the vetos...no?

Jason did you explain to Red Sox why the trade was vetoed because I don't want this to happen a 3rd time.

Jason did you explain to Red Sox why the trade was vetoed because I don't want this to happen a 3rd time. I informed them both, that the vetoes were because there was not enough coming back for Straus. I told them both if a top prospect was added by OAK it would most likely be put through, but Bent is not that

I feel awful with this Red Sox owner and while I don't think this is the worst trade I've ever seen or really that close to it(may lean to one side a bit more than the other), I do see why Nick and Anton have a lot of problems with the guy already.
I hate having to kick out a guy so early on, especially when he shows how active he can be...but if we have to veto another trade like this...I think we have no choice but to kick him out. Not sure how well it'll go with everyone else but we've done something like that before.
