Jared and I both think he should be placed in he draft. The kid is probably going to a-ball. He is basically a draft prospect who signed a deal because he is international. Can keep his product status and not have an insane contract. Thoughts?

I think he should go to FA. I believe we should adjust the rules where all international FA signees should go to the draft, but as the rule speaks now Soler signed an MLB contract he should be a FA.

All international including ones like Darvish? The intent was those people signing major league contracts become free agents because they will be in the majors, or if not very close to the majors. Not for someone like Soler who isn't really close at all signing a major league contract.

Jose Iglacias was not eligible for the draft, but I think all the international FA signees should be drafted. I don't care either way we need to decide soon though

He signed a major league deal and like every other foreign player to sign a major league deal goes through free agency. If you want to change the rule I'm all for it but I don't think you should in the middle of the season. That's just my two cents

Just to throw in my two cents here...I believe Gary Sanchez was an international signing when (I believe Astros) took him in our first FYPD. I agree with the consensus of Free Agency, and we can change the rule.

Maybe we could do like an age limit thing. So if you're over the age of 25 or something you can't be drafted, and go into Free Agency. That way we aren't having people like Kuroda who come in the league over 30 getting drafted in the FYPD.

if we wanted to go with an age restriction I am cool with that. Currently rules do state that if an IFA signs an MLB contract he goes to the FA pool (IE Chapman, Cespedes, and Soler).
