We have decided to tweak the waiver wire rules a bit this year. The rules that have been changed are highlighted in bold. Please read the rules and understand them before you place a claim.
.) The waiver wire will be two weeks starting the Monday after the trade deadline. (extended this year only, so it will run two weeks from today)
.) Teams can place up to 5 (was 3) players on waivers.
.) Once a player is placed on waivers he is on waivers for 48 hrs for any team to claim. If a player clears waivers you have Three options (was two) (1) keep the player (2) drop player but still pay half his contract (3) you can trade said player to any team for any player that has cleared waivers, prospects (they don't have to clear waivers), or picks.
.) If a team or multiple teams place a claim on a player the team with the worst record will be the winning claim. Records will be determined by overall league standings not AL or NL standings.
.) There will be no priority lists. Once a team wins the claim, that team will drop to the last spot on the waiver list, even if a deal is not completed.
.) The claiming team and team that placed said player on waivers will have 48hrs to work out a deal.
.) When a trade is reached you must have MLB players WHO HAVE CLEARED WAIVERS, and or prospects, and or fypd picks included in the deal. If a deal can't be reached the team that placed the player on waivers has 3 options (was2) (1) keep the player (2) drop him but the owner will be responsible for half the player's contract or (3) dump the player and full contract on the claiming team.
.) A GM can NOT place a player on waivers multiple times during the waiver process. If a GM places a player on waivers and a deal can't be worked out or he clears waivers with out a claim, that player can not be placed on waivers a second time during that years waiver process.
.) Waiver claims will be sent to the MLBPA account to keep the bids silent and fair.
