I know I've been pretty absent the last year or so, so i apologize. The fact that we have 5 or so teams that are unowned is very concerning. I'm not a fan of contraction, which ultimately maybe the best route but I feel we need to talk about different ideas before we head down that path.
One way I believe to bring these teams that are horrid to some level of attractiveness is having an expansion style draft. I believe we've done this in the past and had success doing so. We mandate all owned teams to drop a certain amount of players, say 3 to 5. The team dropping said player will be responsible for a portion of that players contract, for the sake of arguement 25%. We allow that team to pay that penalty for dropping said player up front or over the duration of the contract dropped.
Those players dropped go into draft pool for the unattractive teams to draft. We can come up with a sliding scale for a contract to be signed when the player is drafted weather by draft slot or say three years and under 400k 4 to 5 years 700k and so on. Any MiLB players will be 400k, If we allow dropping prospects. Personally I say only mlb players.
We can assign the draft order by some sort of online lottery. Picks can not be traded.
On top of this i would also add a comp pick after each round for next years draft.
Just an idea

All great ideas. We are down to three vacant teams with maybe one new owner interested. Mario and CJ have been fantastic in recruitment. Only time will tell if these new owners stick. That has been our biggest issue. I think this year we had more attrition by far than any year I have seen.

Had 8 opening a last season when we talked about contraction and I filled the teams without a lot of qualifying the new owners. We can go the toxic approach and have 3 of these teams filled tomorrow. I maintain that 2 are in such bad shape that consoladation could be the best option. However if we want all 30 teams rep’d the league can manage these 2 until they are able to build up a little talent

CHC, TB, ATL are open and listed. NYY and PIT aren’t answering or responding so I’m thinking they’re open as well. CHC and TB are crap IMO. My solution was a little easier. Pull a player from ATL and TB and ship to CHC. After the draft we sell CHC easily(huge fan base and good youth) and then we let TB and ATL sink with League Managemen and just leave listed if anyone wants to swoop in later.

NYY and PIT should be easy to fill because the teams are decent enough.
